Clay, bear is 1″ x 1″ x.5″
Two of my earliest sculptures, I created this polar bear and accompanying ball as a child, back in 1989. There were also two other animals in this set: a whale, and a zebra, but these two are the only pieces in that series I still have in stock.
I was inspired to create these small sculptures, by my love of animals and concerns regarding endangered species. I wasn’t completely familiar with which animals were on the list at the time, but my heart was in the right place. I was also inspired by Native American art, with respect to the patina and painted symbols.
